John Cobb at Trinity

Trinity United Methodist Church will soon welcome world-renowned process philosopher and theologian John Cobb, who will speak  on the topic of “Toward an Ecological Civilization” on Saturday May 7 at 7pm. This presentation is co-sponsored by The Chico Area Interfaith Council.

John B. Cobb, Jr. is a process philosopher and theologian who is well-known for his work on social justice and ecological issues. Author of more than fifty books, including one of the first on environmental ethics in 1971 ( Is It Too Late?) Cobb emphasizes what Alfred North Whitehead called “world loyalty.” Cobb recently  co-founded Pando Populus, an organization devoted to creating an ecological civilization. With economist Hermann Daily, Cobb co-authored For the Common Good: Redirecting the Economy Toward Community, Environment, and a Sustainable Future in 1989. Cobb was also the co-founder of the Center for Process Studies in 1973, which has recently inspired the founding of over 30 similar centers in China by thinkers seeking a sustainable future.
